So, I finally saw this movie last night.
And yeah, I mostly hated it.
The scene in the Texas Rodeo where he's saying crazy stuff about the war on terror and junk and everyone is cheering was kinda funny. And that turd cowboy racist ignorant dude was kinda funny/depressing/offensive.
And that crazy wrestling scene was kinda funny too.
I'm curious what was real and what was 'faked.'
Anyway, I'm impressed with Sacha Baren Cohen's ability to push things as far as he will and get his 'hands dirty' so to speak, but it's like whoring himself out in a way. Anyway, his determination is impressive, but he's still an ass.
I see his humor mostly as acting retarded and stupid, and getting people to behave in a way that you'd expect them to behave, trying to be polite, but being embarrassed/angry/confused/etc.
Honestly, he only promotes the ignorance most people have with stuff like this. _________________ PauseMonster Rush Timmy!

ya, but its still amusing
also a part of it is that these people are just dumb to begin with so ya hes acting retarded but they are making fun of themselves just as bad, normal people would just recognize him as a stunt... i guess it doesnt even really matter to me if all the people were actors or not, its a movie and its more entertaining if u just think of them as real much as the same way u watch a scripted movie and expect them to act like real people

Via Wikipedia, the all-knowing and accurate:

| With the exception of Borat, Azamat, Luenell and Pamela Anderson, none of the characters are portrayed by actors. Most scenes in the film were unscripted, although the end credits do credit a "Naked Fight Coordinator." In most cases the film's participants were given no warning on what they would be taking part in except for being asked to sign release forms agreeing not to take legal action against the film's producers. Filming was already underway in January 2005, when Cohen caused a near riot in what would ultimately be the rodeo scene in the final cut of the film. An interview with Cohen by Rolling Stone indicated that over 400 hours of footage had been shot for the film, while IMDb states that during this time Borat's antics led to police being called on Cohen 91 times. The end credit footage is taken from Soviet-era Estonian Television commercials, and the man represented at the end of the sequence as Kazakhstan's president is in reality Azerbaijan's president Ilham Aliyev |

Interesting. I'm curious how they got the camera-man to not be noticed and such.
I'll need to read the Wikipedia page for Borat for sure.
Regardless, I can understand how people found it entertaining and such and I don't have a problem with it, but I think it was just obnoxious.
If Borat came to me acting retarded doing similar things, I can't imagine I'd behave all too terribly different sometimes.
Anyway, I'll need to read the Wikipedia page for the movie more and then I'll come back with more thoughts. _________________ PauseMonster Rush Timmy!

This thread would be a lot more entertaining if Sciros still posted here. I retract everything I said about your spats; they were truly the lifeblood of the forum.
